The Challenge
Longhoughton Primary School is a typical 1960s single-storey timber-framed cellular building, which had not benefited from any significant upgrades or refurbishment works since its original construction. The condition of the facilities and finishes were aged and extremely tired and were even highlighted by a member of the teaching staff, who remarked that she had attended the school as a pupil and that much of the internal fit-out remained unchanged. The principal challenge of the project was to maximise the extent of refurbishment works that could be delivered within the constrained six-week summer holiday period. This required meticulous planning, programming and coordination to ensure that the available timeframe was utilised as efficiently as possible, enabling a substantial package of improvements to be completed while ensuring the school was fully operational and ready to welcome pupils and staff at the commencement of the new academic year.
Our Approach
We considered our clients requirements, and through planning, programming and coordination, we were able to ensure that the available timeframe was used as efficiently as possible, enabling a substantial package of improvements to be completed while ensuring the school was fully operational and ready to welcome pupils and staff at the commencement of the new academic year.
